NYS Housing Agency Doles Out Grants To Non-Profits To Fight Foreclosures
- Syracuse Cooperative Federal Credit Union and Norwich-based Opportunities for Chenango, Inc. are among 15 groups receiving state grants aimed at helping homeowners avoid foreclosure, Gov. David Paterson announced Wednesday.
- Syracuse Cooperative Federal has been awarded $100,000 from the New York State Banking Department to provide foreclosure-prevention counseling in collaboration with Home HeadQuarters, Inc. of Syracuse. Opportunities for Chenango, Inc. will use a $180,000 grant to partner with the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York to implement a foreclosure-prevention program in Chenango, Otsego, Delaware, counties and parts of Broome and Madison counties.
- The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) is providing the funding for the grant. The $3.4 million in state grants awarded this week brings the total amount for the year to $9.4 million.
