Gas Leak Found In Foreclosed Home; Neighbors On Both Sides Of Street Forced To Evacuate

In Chillecothe, Ohio, the Chillicothe Gazette reports:

• Neighbors living near 727 E. Main St. had to be evacuated for a time [earlier this week] because of natural gas coming from that address. According to officials at the scene, neighbors called emergency workers when they smelled natural gas coming from the building. Officials said the gas was left on and leaked in the home after the inhabitants moved out due to a foreclosure. Firefighters evacuated homes on both sides of the street on the block between Poplar and Wade Streets as a precaution as they shut off the electric and gas in the home and let it air out.
