Florida Non Profit Law Firm Swamped With Foreclosure Cases

Jacksonville Area Legal Aid is so swamped with foreclosure cases that it can't take on more clients, according to a recent article in The Florida Times-Union, at jacksonville.com. It has recently asked the city's Housing Commission for a $250,000-a-year grant to hire more attorneys. The Housing Commission also is considering a separate proposal that would let people borrow up to $5,000 at zero interest so they can keep making mortgage payments if an illness, job loss or death in the family puts home ownership in jeopardy.
