Southern California Man Gets 7+ Years For Forgery, Grand Theft, Filing Phony Deeds, Rent Skimming In Real Estate Scam Operation

In San Fernando County, California, My Fox-TV Channel 11 reports:
  • A Mission Hills man who masterminded a real estate foreclosure and investment fraud was sentenced Monday to seven years and eight months in state prison. San Fernando Superior Court Judge Alice Hill imposed the maximum term on James Anthony Rojas, 51, according to Deputy District Attorney David Fleck. Jurors deliberated about an hour before convicting Rojas on Aug. 11 of 14 felony charges of grand theft, forgery and attempting to file false or forged grant and trust deeds. He also was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of rent skimming.

Convicted Southern California Con Man Found Guilty In Alleged Deed Theft, Rent Skimming Scams

In Los Angeles, California, Fox News 11 reports:
  • A Mission Hills man was convicted Monday of 14 felony charges involving real estate foreclosure and investment fraud. A San Fernando Superior Court jury deliberated about an hour before finding 51-year-old James Anthony Rojas guilty of grand theft, forgery and attempting to file false or forged grant and trust deeds. He also was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of rent skimming.

Bail Set At $1.64M For California Man Facing Foreclosure Fraud, Forgery, Rent Skimming Charges

In Santa Clarita, California, KHTS Radio AM 1220 reports:
  • A Mission Hills man already facing criminal charges involving alleged real estate foreclosure and investment fraud was charged Friday with several more felony counts, including grand theft, identity theft and forgery involving many victims in Santa Clarita. James Anthony Rojas, 51, faced 82 counts, all but three of them felonies. The misdemeanor counts allege rent skimming. Most of the crimes involve real estate foreclosure fraud, in which Rojas allegedly forged grant deeds to take over victims’ homes. Some of the victims had gone to Rojas for help with mortgage problems; most didn’t even know him until the forged grant deeds appeared.
